How important are blogs really?
It seems to be the common marketing wisdom that you can't have a startup or successful company these days without a blog. Consequently, there are about a hojillion new blogs created every second, most of which fall by the wayside quite quickly.
At the same time, there are quite a few successful blogs that are read regularly, shared regularly, and even provide a revenue stream for their creators. This suggests that blogs definitely can be worthwhile, even though the vast majority of them aren't.
My question is two-fold: first, how important are blogs, really? If you don't have much to say on there besides making the occasional "company announcement" are they really worth starting or do they just become a distraction? Second, what sets apart the successful bloggers from those who labor long in obscurity? Are they truly that much more talented? Have they been at it longer? Is it something else entirely?

be different
If the creator of the blog is committed to adding content on a regular basis that targets his or her audience, and if they have the time and resources to learn all the SEO needed to make it work, then and only then is it worth while.
Without time, patience and plenty of knowhow, the blog will fail like most others... and the blogger will become distracted, dis heartened and lazy due to wasted time and effort.
2. If the blogger is an avid blogger that takes time learning SEO, is willing to invest in SEO techniques and has plenty of content to add, and also enjoys writing articles for their audience like one expert I know of named Mike Paetzold @ MikePaetzold.com, they will endure plenty of success and dominate the search engines.
3. If I were to suggest a feasable idea on this subject, it would be to create a step by step video series showing people how to do this properly. Not just a software that does it on auto, as it will not teach anything to the user.
This can be put into a membersite and drip fed at a steady pace, or via a signup to an auto responder series also at a steady pace to "show and teach" all the useful and up to date SEO techniques and blogging / article strategies... Even point the user to the right plugins to add to their blog to optimize it to full capacity.
There are people ranting they know blogging and will teach, but not many willing to invest the time and money to do it properly.
I hope this helps :)
participate in forums in your target clientele
make a blog and update it daily
create a squeeze page for your contact list and devellop
write articles
create an ebook and offer it free to your prospects
use the video on youtube for more traffic
make an announcement to promote your company
One of the main reasons we say this is that the content of blogs tends to be more "dynamic" thank you typical "static" web pages, and ...
The Search Engines Love "dynamic content" and therefore Blogs!, you know?
The Key to a Successful Blog is regular posting of content/articles of interest to your target market/audience!
Secondarily, is getting your blog content/articles syndicated out to various other sites, e.g. rss feeds, blog directories, social media sites, etc. which may all be done automatically!, if you know how to do it ;), and which helps generate backlinks to your site and improve your search engine rankings and traffic/visitors, you know?
and you don't have to write all of your blog posts / articles yourself, as you can hire writers to do so for you, you know? ;)
Please let us know if you would like any help in setting up, marketing, and/or managing your blogs, e.g. regularly filling it with articles/content of interest to your target market/audience, ok?
I hope this all helps and Have a Great Day! :)
