Getting back into Music
I used to play the violin. I played for about 7 years but haven't picked up the instrument more than a handful of times in the past 5 years.
What would you recommend for someone who wants to get back into music as a hobby but has been discouraged for a long time by the amount of time it would take just to get back to the same level?
I still have my violin and my old music, so the major investment would be time, not money.
Frankly, the other thing that worked for me after 8 years of violin was switching to guitar. I've found it easier to feel like I'm making progress on guitar and also far more versatile, although it is a monetary investment.
Good for you for wanting to take the plunge back in to music! Your idea inspires me, because I too want to get back in to music, but for me it's singing.
I might suggest finding someone who teaches lessons in your area -- simply to help you brush up on your skills. It's tough when you have a hobby or a passion that takes a lot of time. I can commpletely relate!
Maybe you can carve out a set amount of hours each week to practice. Don't get discouraged! You can do it!
Best of luck!
Kim :-)
