My favorite way to travel is by car, being a driving enthusiast, so naturally my favorite trips tend to be road trips.

So far I have driven from LA to MD with many stops along the way, around the Great Lakes, and through the Blue Ridge Mountains in VA.

Still on my list would be crossing the country to the north (as I've already done south) and heading all the way down to Miami.

But what else? What are some of the best roads and nicest places to visit in the US? The journey is the destination, so I don't mind spending 8 hours in the car each day. I live in Maryland.

I would recommend, particularly this time of year, that you take a road trip along the coast down from Maryland, down the East coast of Florida all the way to the end of the keys / Key West and then come back up the West Coast of Florida! B-) ...

and then you can decide where to go from there ...

Either continue along the Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, etc. coast, or ...

Back up to Maryland, e.g. through the mountains of Tennessee ;)
